Strength

Picking the right nicotine load

Strength is the most consequential decision when choosing a nicotine pouch, and the labelling across brands is genuinely inconsistent. ZYN's "Cool Mint Strong" sits at 6 mg per pouch; VELO's "Strong" sits at 10 mg; Cuba's "Strong" sits at 22 mg. Same word, three very different experiences. The four tiers below are how we organise the catalogue so you can compare across brands on the only metric that actually matters: nicotine per pouch.

The four tiers we stock

Mild (under 6 mg per pouch): The lightest tier. Suitable for first-time pouch buyers, light cigarette smokers, or anyone returning to nicotine after a break. ZYN 3 mg, VELO Mint 4 mg, and the lower Klint tiers sit here. The nicotine feels present but not aggressive; sessions last around 30 minutes with a soft curve.

Medium (6 to 10 mg per pouch): The most-stocked tier across the catalogue and the right entry point for most pack-a-day former cigarette smokers or experienced vapers. Sometimes labelled "Regular" or "Normal" by individual brands; we've grouped them under Medium for consistency. Most VELO, ZYN, and STNG products sit here.

Strong (10 to 16 mg per pouch): The "Strong" or "Extra Strong" labelling on most brands lands in this range. White Fox, the upper Klint and AVANT tiers, and the standard Helwit Mocha sit here. Suitable for experienced pouch buyers who've found the Medium tier no longer satisfies, or for ex-snus buyers transitioning from traditional Swedish snus.

Extra Strong (16 mg per pouch and above): The upper end. Cuba (20 to 25 mg), Pablo (30 mg), Iceberg (50 mg). Built for high-tolerance daily buyers; the experience is genuinely different from the lower tiers, with a sharper first-contact feel and a longer-lasting nicotine load. Not a starting point.

For a deeper breakdown, including how moisture and pH affect the perceived strength independent of mg, see the Strength Guide.

Why mg per pouch (and not mg per gram)

Most modern brands label nicotine in mg per pouch, which is the metric that matters for what your body absorbs in a single session. Some Swedish brands (Swag, certain Skruf lines) use mg per gram, which refers to nicotine concentration in the pouch material rather than total load. A 25 mg/g pouch in a 0.7 g format works out to approximately 17 mg per pouch; the same 25 mg/g in a 0.4 g mini works out to 10 mg per pouch. Always check what the figure on the can is referring to before comparing across brands.

Frequently asked

What strength should I start with?

If you're new to pouches, start in the Mild tier (under 6 mg per pouch). ZYN 3 mg or 6 mg is the most common entry point. If you're a current vaper or daily cigarette smoker, you can comfortably begin in the Medium tier (6 to 10 mg). Step up only if the chosen strength feels insufficient after several days of use; nicotine tolerance builds quickly, but starting low gives you somewhere to go.

Why does the same brand's "Strong" feel different from another brand's "Strong"?

Three reasons: actual mg load (not always equal across brands at the same label), moisture content (wetter pouches release nicotine faster, so they feel sharper), and pH (higher pH speeds absorption). A 10 mg AVANT pouch with a moist construction can feel stronger than a 12 mg ZYN pouch with a dry construction, despite the lower number. The Strength Guide has the full breakdown.

What's the highest strength you stock?

Iceberg's 50 mg per pouch is the upper end of our catalogue; Pablo Exclusive at 30 mg sits one tier below. These are well above the safe starting point for anyone who isn't already accustomed to high-mg pouches. We list them because they're genuinely different products with their own use cases (long-haul flights, tolerance breaks, and so on), but they shouldn't be a first or second order.
