By gathering points over a calendar year. Reach 1,500 in a year and you become a Regular. Reach 5,000 and you become a VIP. Every order counts toward it, and so does everything else that earns points.
Yes. Redeeming points and earning them are separate. An order you put credit toward still earns points on what you pay.
