MYNT: Building the Next Generation of Nicotine Pouches

MYNT tested a Watermelon pouch during development but chose not to launch it, because the brand would rather keep a curated range than add flavours for the sake of it. We asked MYNT maker Satyam Sun Products (SSPPL) about that decision, how its pouches are made and tested, and why the product names show the mg per pouch.

MYNT is made by Satyam Sun Products Pvt. Ltd. in India. At PouchSpot we stock 18 MYNT nicotine pouches in the slim format: six flavours, each at 6, 12 and 18 mg per pouch. The answers below come from Shivam Bihani at SSPPL.

Where are MYNT pouches made?

"MYNT is manufactured at Satyam Sun Products Pvt. Ltd. (SSPPL), at our pharmaceutical-grade manufacturing facility in India. Our journey into nicotine pouches began in 2020, with significant investments in dedicated research and development, international collaborations and knowledge exchange. We spent considerable time evaluating global technologies, manufacturing processes and supply chains to develop the capabilities required to produce a consistent, high-quality product."

Your product names show the mg per pouch. Why did you choose to do that?

"We believe transparency should be an integral part of responsible product design. Clearly displaying the nicotine content per pouch allows adult consumers to understand the product specifications and make informed choices. For us, straightforward labelling is more than a design decision; it reflects our commitment to clarity, consistency and responsible manufacturing."

Not every brand labels its cans this way. Many show mg per gram, which is a different number. Our guide to mg/g and mg per pouch explains the difference, and the Strength Index compares brands by mg per pouch.

Which flavour did you test that never made it out, and why?

"Watermelon was one of the flavours we explored during our development process but ultimately decided not to commercialise. Product development is about exploring possibilities, but equally about knowing which concepts deserve to become part of the final portfolio. Our decisions are based on a combination of product positioning, market suitability and commercial considerations. We would rather have a carefully curated portfolio of products that serve a clear purpose than introduce flavours simply to increase the number of options available."

How do you test a new flavour before it launches?

"Every new flavour goes through a structured development and evaluation process. It begins with flavour selection and formulation, followed by sensory evaluation and technical assessments. We also evaluate critical product parameters, including nicotine content, pH, moisture levels, pouch weight, product stability and packaging compatibility. Beyond the initial formulation, consistency is a major consideration."

How long does it take from idea to a can on the shelf?

"There is no fixed timeline, as it depends on the complexity of the development. A flavour extension within an existing product platform can move relatively quickly, whereas a completely new formulation, product format or packaging concept requires more extensive development, testing and validation. Our approach has always been to prioritise getting the product right rather than rushing it to market. We believe that long-term brand credibility is built through product quality and consistency, not simply the speed at which new products are introduced."

Which country or market has surprised you most?

"Europe as a whole has been an interesting learning experience. Despite being part of the same broader region, individual markets have distinctly different consumer preferences, particularly in terms of flavour profiles, nicotine strengths and product characteristics. This has reinforced our belief that successful international expansion requires local market understanding, flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing consumer expectations."

What do customers ask you about most often?

"Most customer enquiries revolve around nicotine strength, flavour selection, pouch moisture, product consistency and the differences between nicotine pouches and other nicotine products. For us, these conversations are valuable because they provide direct insight into what the market expects from a product."

Is there anything new you can tell us about?

"Absolutely. We are working on expanding MYNT's flavour portfolio while exploring new product formats and innovations in pouch design and product experience. At the same time, we continue to invest in strengthening our manufacturing capabilities, refining our processes and building the capacity required to support the next phase of MYNT's growth. Our ambition extends beyond introducing new products."
