    ZYN Snus & Nicotine Pouches

    What are ZYN nicotine pouches?

ZYN is the tobacco-free snus alternative that helped build the modern nicotine pouch category. It launched in 2014 under Swedish Match, a company with more than a century of Scandinavian snus heritage behind it. Unlike its tobacco-bearing predecessors, ZYN was built from the start as a tobacco-free product. The choice was a positioning one: separate the nicotine pouch from the rituals and aesthetics of tobacco entirely, and let the format stand on its own.

The name borrows from the Greek "zyn", meaning power or strength. Not marketing poetry. A description of intent: concentrated, clean nicotine in the simplest possible form. No superfluous ingredients, no fashionable variants, just the thing itself.

ZYN pouch sizes: Mini, Slim and Regular

ZYN reads as the Scandinavian design principle applied to nicotine pouches: remove what isn't needed, refine what remains. The base flavour set has been deliberately steady. Cool Mint has been Cool Mint since the start. Spearmint stays Spearmint. Coffee was Coffee in 2015 and Coffee in 2026. Where other brands chase monthly limited editions, ZYN refines the same handful of constants.

The format philosophy follows the same logic. Two main sizes: Regular at 0.7g and Slim at 0.5g, plus a smaller Mini for those who want something almost imperceptible under the lip. We currently stock the Mini and Slim formats. Within the same strength level a Mini carries less nicotine than a Slim (S2: 3 mg vs 6 mg), so the choice between formats is about feel and strength.

How much nicotine is in ZYN?

ZYN's internal strength runs S1 to S6, each step a real jump in nicotine load rather than a marketing label. S1 sits at 1.5 mg per pouch in Spearmint Mini S1. S2 is 3 mg in the mini format and 6 mg in the slim. S3 at 9 mg is the bridge between mild and regular. S4 at 11 mg (slim) is ZYN's everyday-strong tier (Cool Mint Slim S4, Menthol Ice Slim S4). S5 steps up to 13.5 mg (Menthol Ice Slim S5, Blackcurrant Ice Slim S5). S6 at 16.5 mg is ZYN's firmest current offering, in Cool Mint Ice Slim and Menthol Ice Slim. We've mapped this against every other brand we stock in the Strength Guide.

    ZYN flavours

Mint and menthol carry the catalogue. Cool Mint, Spearmint, Gentle Mint, Apple Mint, Blueberry Mint, Watermelon Mint, Menthol Ice, and Cool Mint Ice cover everything from soft and rounded to sharp and arctic. Beyond mint, the fruit side runs through Black Cherry, Red Fruits, Red Berry Fizz, and Blackcurrant Ice. Citrus and Lemon Spritz handle the bright end. Coffee sits at the morning end, and Cactus Spice adds a spicier note. Violet Licorice and Black Licorice represent the Scandinavian pull.

    Why choose ZYN?

In a category that gets fidgety every few months with new launches and steeper strengths, ZYN holds its position by execution rather than novelty. The flavour profiles are stable. The release curves are consistent. The packaging hasn't changed in years. For anyone who'd rather know exactly what they're getting than chase the latest stronger pouch, ZYN is the obvious starting point and often the obvious staying point.

    Frequently asked

    What is ZYN?

ZYN are tobacco-free nicotine pouches, launched in 2014 by Swedish Match, now part of Philip Morris. The base is plant fibre and food-grade fillers with nicotine, flavour and pH balancers added: no tobacco leaf, no tobacco extract.

What do S1 to S6 mean on ZYN?

The S number is ZYN's strength level, from S1 at 1.5 mg to S6 at 16.5 mg of nicotine per pouch. At the same level a mini pouch has less nicotine than a slim one: S2 is 3 mg as mini and 6 mg as slim.

ZYN Mini vs Slim: what's the difference?

Mini is the most discreet and sits almost flat under the lip. Slim (0.5 g) is the standard everyday format. Regular (0.7 g) holds slightly more material and tends to feel firmer in place, though we currently stock only Mini and Slim. At the same S level a Mini has less nicotine than a Slim (S2: 3 mg vs 6 mg), so choose by feel and check the mg.

    How do you use ZYN?

Place a pouch between your upper lip and gum and leave it there. There is nothing to chew or spit: nicotine and flavour release on their own, often with a light tingle at first. When the flavour has faded, take the pouch out and put it in the bin. If you are new to pouches, start low, for example with ZYN Cool Mint Mini S2 (3 mg), and only step up in the same flavour if it feels too mild.

How long does a ZYN pouch last?

As long as you like: flavour and nicotine come through most clearly at the start and then ease off gradually, and most people take the pouch out once the flavour has faded. A can holds 20 or 21 pouches, depending on the product.

    How much does ZYN cost?

At PouchSpot a can of ZYN costs from €5.49, or from €4.61 per can in the 40-pack. Delivery is free from €50; details are on the shipping page.

Is ZYN the same as snus?

No, although the two are often confused. Traditional Swedish snus contains tobacco; ZYN does not. ZYN is a tobacco-free nicotine pouch, often called tobacco-free snus in everyday usage. The format and feel are similar, the regulatory category and ingredients are different.
